---Within the darkness---
Within the darkness, through the howling winds, past the swings that swung listlessly in the breeze beside the ancient, gnarled tree, a lone figure stood beside a gravestone, overlooking the endless sea of mists in that gray, cold world.
A smile twisted Beloved’s lips as he heard Melith’s voice echo through Alphaeus’s mind. He followed the words, the images they conjured.
He was elated.
What if this thing was like him?
What if he wasn’t alone in the world?
The shadows of his robe spiraled out beneath him, like a web caressing the ground beneath him, seeping over everything, and settling his slight weight against the hard ground.
The name echoed once more through the symbiote’s mind.
Thorn.
Tower
The Tower
Recount
"Master Melith," a discreet voice said and Melith looked up to see one of the housemaids. She dipped a curtsey to him, still in the doorway. "There is a woman to see you. She gave her name as Amry."
Dreams
He pressed lips gently against the sweat damp forehead of his lover, only to feel faint hands patting at his chest. Melith leaned back in slight confusion to see Milo's face a contortion of pain, tears streaming down his face. His abdomen was stretched tight and distended from where the giant had entered him. The smaller elf had been beating at Melith with all his might and as Melith reared back in shock Milo screamed, the flesh across his belly ripping.
The horrid wet gleam of broken bone mocked him as blood spilled and oozed across his torso, onto Melith's white sheets. In panic Melith tried to pull out but couldn't move. Hands slipping in the gore of nameless organs he tried to press Milo's innards back where they belonged, his throat the miserable tightness that meant he would be screaming to match the redhead under him if he wasn't trapped in this nightmare. There were bone shards in there and there shouldn't be, it was his abdomen not his ribcage but then there was no reason for the spike of 'something' that was protruding up through Milo's torso either.
He couldn't lift Milo no matter how he tried, the blood making his hands slippery and he had to keep one hand on Milo's stomach to keep him together and the dreadful certain knowledge that it was his fault. Milo's voice was endless in his ears, crying and begging to him to stop, make it stop, help me. Finally he managed to get a grip on Milo, lifting him up, trying to cradle him only to discover the true horror. It was him, the unknown spike wasn't iron or wood it was Melith's own flesh. Milo stared at him, eyes wide with fear and pain and then he choked out one word in a bubble of blood that stained his chin to match his hair, white skin livid with contusions and compound fractures. "Why?" Only it wasn't Milo's voice it was the voice of the Pandaren woman he'd rescued from the wall, confused and lost and afraid and dying.

His eyes flew open and Kalka yowled as he dislodged her, lunging out of his sweat stained sheets for the basin he kept by his bedside. Vomiting into it, his tears mixed into a disgusting mess of snot and bile. The smell only made the dream more vivid, more real. He stumbled into his bathing chamber, one of the few places that house a tub big enough to fit him, and rinsed the basin. He took deep, even breaths through his mouth and then nose, rinsing his mouth as soon as he was done. Melith shivered on the cold stone floors, wrapping his arms around his knees and pressing his eyes tight against them until he saw stars on his closed lids. It had been near a month. How long would they continue? Why was it always Milo?
