In a great episode from one of my favorite shows, Babylon 5, a young catholic monk played by guest star Brad Dourif asks Delenn to explain M

Delenn and Lennier explain to a visiting human Catholic monk what the Mimbari approach to spirituality and religion is.

I like that Babylon 5 didn't take an easy way out, and actually came up with an intriguing metaphysical concept to hold on to, which explains their nature, without limiting it.

Also, it appears this is an easter egg based on the viewpoint of the much missed Professor Carl Sagan, but I can't find the reference (If anyone can find it, please feel free to add it).

Y'know, just once I'd like to see the sci-fi trope of "My Species Cannot Lie" actually involve a species that can't lie, instead of one that generally prefers to be truthful but also capable of lying like hell.

Like, I get if a culture prizes honestly, but passing it off as an inability? That's a big damn lie right there.
