Alarms are blaring, people are screaming. Everything is in disarray.

Everything was fine prior to the alarm. The secretary’s fingers swiftly glided across keys, the clicks from her mouse being the only sound in the quiet lobby. A person speed walks past, carrying a duffel bag, before exiting.

Nothing happens for a while.

Psych genius cam looks chats with Commander Hazelnut, whose title is often shortened to Hazel. Cam is throwing bad dad jokes and snorting at them while Hazel stares at her with a small grin. Moral support Taemi is sitting on a plush velvet chair, lips pursed as she eats her breakfast, coffee in hand.

“Do you guys know where our guardian is?” She asks, silencing the two of them.

Cam frowns, “I thought she was working on those Drabble Requests?”

“No she took a break, remember?” Hazel says, before making a face when she ate a sour orange. She spits it into the trash. “I thought she was on break.”

“No, the break room is under renovations,” Taemi says. “The studio is still under construction too, so she probably isn’t there either.”

The three of them look towards each other worriedly, “Should I call her?” Cam asks nervously.

“I already did,” Taemi states with a prickly feeling in her chest. “No response.”

Cam nods, “Commander Hazelnut, permission to fire Operation Guardian.”

“Permission Granted.”

And a few seconds later, alarms start blaring.

The three of them gear up, equipping themselves with blankets, chocolate bars, hugs, and their secret weapon: the Nugget of England. They set off in search of Guardian Maria, bringing the entire world into lockdown while the search takes place.

“What could have happened?” Hazelnut asks.

Psych genius Cam, codenamed Diamond responds, “Something must have happened. She was seen on CCTV exiting the building carrying a large duffel bag.”

Moral Support Taemi, codenamed Mimi is the one who explains, “She may be feeling ill, we need to launch Operation Convenience Store.”

Hazelnut nods, “Very well, let’s make a detour. Please take a right at the next set of lights, Diamond.”

“Yes Commander.”

After the three of them stop at the convenience store, they grab everything and go, hopping into the truck before speeding off (don’t do it people, you can get a hefty ticket…) and pulling into Guardian Maria’s flat. The three of them ring the bell before waiting. The lock clicks open and the door widens a crack.

“What are you all doing here?” Maria asks before Mimi is hugging her and wrapping a blanket around her shoulders.

“You’ll never be alone,” Taemi breathes softly before inviting herself in, Cam and Hazel trailing in behind. “Let us be here for you.”

And she did. The four of them sat in the couch, watching their favourite band’s performance, gushing about the Jung Hoseok, and listening to Cam’s bad dad jokes (though the three of them secretly loved them). They brought out the kennel, presenting their secret weapon, The Nugget of England. When he walked out of his transport kennel fashionably, Maria laughed before picking him up and swathing him in her blanket, glad to be reunited with her beloved cat.

And the three of them wanted her to know that she never has to sneak off again, and that it’s alright. Because they’d make the whole world stop what it’s doing to make sure she’s happy first.

WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH MARIA! thank you for always being a light and a guardian angel to me. Now, it’s my turn to be one for you! I love you 🥺 take care during this, alright? And stay cozy, make sure to give yourself the love and the care you always give to us.
