I am so glad you pointed out these questions about the whole "ad revenue" thing. I am very concerned about this as well. I don't want ads on my blog by personnal choice, but knowing there's this possibility that people could still make money off of my own content doesn't exactly make me feel good. Now if reblogs give a blogger no revenue, I can only imagine the amount of theft this could create.. O boi. I feel like this is a grave mistake.
as someone who has been anxious about and dealt with art theft since i was twelve, this is scaring the hell out of me!
if they were more upfront with their plans and methods and giving us a heads up BEFORE ripping up people’s blogs and automatically enrolling them, i’d be less anxious. but tumblr has a history of being a very broken website, with no real communication from staff, and little in the way of resolution for problems that exist for YEARS.
the increasing invasiveness of ads and them straight up allowing scam ads to get paid positions on my dash (fucking pokecoin scam has been there all day) makes me have no trust at all in whatever system they’re thinking of implementing, let alone one that plans on dealing with people’s content and money.
i would like to make money yeah but not with the looming threat of having my information unprotected and my original content put at serious risk.
