1/3) Mina-Anon here! Honestly, I can understand why adults happen to prefer adult characters rather than teenagers. But not for everyone. You know that I'm a student stan and much of my favourites are students, some adults being the exeption. And I'm turning 26 this summer. We shouldn't be too surprised that a manga with Academia in his title tells a lot about students. That being said, for me it's not important if their adults or children.
2/3) When I love characters, it's for different reasons. I can relate to adults and teenagers at the same time. And I admit that I love most of the students and relate to a lot of them. Also, I love reading about children and teenagers in general, because I have mostly happy childhood memories and it makes me feel nostalgic about that time, I believe. But I also like adult characters and relate to them a lot (Gang Orca is one of my absolute favourites).
3/3) I also relate to the story in itself a lot, I don't know why exactly. Because I'm sensitive with compassion or because I can get angry at a character who happens to be a great-written villain? No idea. I just thinks that it was never because of realism, for the simple reason that realism is one of the last thing I'm looking forward in fiction. It's a good thing most of the time, but I'm more happy about the story itself, even if it can happen to be unrealistic. Your Mina-Anon
Mina-Anon is actually Mina-Anon-Senpai?!
I knew I forgot something in that post T-T
While age may play a factor in what people like in characters for some, it’s not a catch-all thing and I should have included that XD. Especially, as you pointed out, BNHA is ultimately a coming-of-age story for teenagers and while the adults have a prominant role in the manga, it’s still about how these group of students rise up and become the next great heroes that follow in their footsteps. We’ve learned a lot about them and we’ve grown to connect with them in different ways beyond just relating to them because of their age (hell, I prefer the adult characters but there are students who I root for too!).
I’ve got to say though, there is something whimsical and refreshing in your outlook about children characters. I’m not sure how to put it exactly but it’s just a very nice and positive thing to hear, how you like to read for both the nostalgia and see the children flourish. It just says something very kind about you and your personality <3 (...Does this paragraph even make any sense T-T I really don’t know how to word at the moment...).
Really, I think a story is doing it’s job well for you if you can ignore the aspects of realism for a moment and just relate and be sucked into the story regardless. As long as you enjoy the story in the end, realism doesn’t really matter and while that may not be said for others in the fandom (myself included at times), I’m happy to hear you enjoy BNHA, it’s central characters and the story it’s telling!
If any MHA or Haikyuu anons wanna interact... 🥺👉🏾👈🏾

I've been eating yeah! Someone bought me Chinese food earlier so it wasmt very healthy but I'm trying my best 💕
Mina-Anon here! I just read your meta and I find it very interesting, understandable. Although I never felt that way about it, I can very well understand why others view it like you do. And you have good arguments. I may not feel the same, because honestly, it never bothered me. Maybe I'm very, very openminded, because when I love a fiction, I embrace everything of it, even flaws. There can be I few details that I like less than others, but they don't bother me. (1/3)
In fact, it takes a lot for me to actually be really bothered by something in a story. Told you, I might be a bit too openminded. Anyways, the change between grey and black vs white never bothered me at all, because... call me stupid, but I have the feeling that it coexist. That some things (or people) are more grey, while others at the same time are more in black or white shades. I know it sounds stupid, but that's how I feel it. A bit contraditory, isn't it? (2/3)
I have a passion for history and with all the books I read etc., I get that feeling for so many parts and figures of history too. Funny, right? That's way it never bothered me, because I just assumed it coexists (and because I might be very, very openminded). But your meta and your vision is very understandable too, because you make good arguments. Your Mina-Anon and salutations from my cat. (3/3)
Ahhh, Mina anon, my heart flutters with joy to see your name in my ask box once again <3 <3 <3
I don’t think your stupid at all, black/white and grey themes can co-exist in a story! They do in BNHA even when you think about AFO and then the HPSC (with AFO proclaiming himself as a demon lord and clearly showing that black mentality while the HPSC doing obviously shady things but in the name of peace and protection showing us the more grey side of BNHA). I just feel at times, Hori lacks the skill to portray that effectively.
My issue with Tartarus, for example, was that he was trying to protray it as a grey/black facility but then didn’t exactly follow through with doing so. It could have been great social commentary on the harsh treatment of the villains and the opening paragraph mentioning how ideology can get someone locked up can show us the dangerous slippery slope that hero society is slipping down but then it made the villains appear to be okay and unbothered by their stay.
I do understand where you’re coming from too and honestly sometimes I wish I could stop letting minor flaws in a story bother me because I’d probably enjoy it more T-T I’m still enjoying BNHA though so it hasn’t reached that point for me thankfully.
Also!!! The most important fact!!! You have a cat?! <3 ADORABLE!! Give them all the head pats from me and I give you salutations from my cats and dog as well!!
(1/3) Mina-anon here! How's it going for you? I loved the last chapters of MHA, even though my heart was broken a few times. But what can I expect with the Todoroki family drama? I really feel bad for everyone, Touya too, even though child Touya begins to scare me more and more (like Endeavor scared me when he was first introduced). Like father like son. I'm scared to learn what happened to him after his death...
(2/3) and it doesn't help that my imaginations is going wild about all those possibilities what could happened to him. And for present Touya, aka Dabi, is it still possible to save him? I'm sure that every other Todoroki wants that, but I still doubt that Dabi wants to be saved. Does he even considerate that he should be saved? And when would say mum, sister, brother, is it a last trait of affection or is it for mockery?
(3/3) To finish on a much lighter note, my father watched Rise of the Guardians with me... and he found it extraordinary. Trust me, it is rare that something (movie or book or anything) could amaze him like that. But that movie surprised him a lot and he definetly wants to watch it again one day. He even compared it to the films of studio Ghibli. It's the first time that I hear Guardians being compared to ghibli movie, but in our family it's a big compliment. Your Mina-Anon
I thought I heard the birds outside chirp with happiness <3 No wonder as you once again bless us with your presence!!
Mina-anon!! How’s it going for you? I hope life has been treating you well.
These last few chapters have been a doozy haven’t they? Keeping up with the Todoroki’s has surely gotten interesting as of late. Especially now almost all the family are together and ready to face what happened to them (and Dabi) head on. Really, they’ve come so far in their healing and I can’t help but be so proud of them, especially Rei!! How she managed to stand in front of Endeavor once again even though we know only a short few months ago he still scared her. She’s an incredibly strong women and I hope we get to see more of her <3
I’m so uncertain about how Dabi’s fate will play out. Obviously his family will probably want to help him and try to reach out to him but Dabi himself has said that he doesn’t care about his family and even has plans to kill Shouto as he knows it will break Endeavor. I’m worried for the rest of the family too if Dabi realises that Endeavor cares about them (we’ve already seen how callously he acted when Shouto told him he could have gotten Natsuo killed).
Dabi is a complicated matter because how do you get through to him when he feels that way? Will his story end up being a bigger tragedy then it already is? And how will that effect the family moving forward? So many questions and possibilities!!
Anyway!!! I’m so glad to hear your father has great taste!! The Rise of the Guardians is such an incredible and heartwarming story and it seems like Jack Frost has managed to melt the hearts of your family <3
