Our listen through continues, this time it's Macedonica - I think after this I'll be back on track with my reverse alphabetical order!
Mina was is from the Macedonian capital city of Skopje and has enjoyed music and singing from a very early age, she now attends classes at the ‘Zvezdicki Music Academy’. Her biggest achievement was winning the special Pearl Award at the ‘Ezerski Biseri International Music Festiva’l earlier this year however she has won many awards at national and international music competitions including 7 first prizes. Mina also took part in a talent show called ‘Pink Stars’ which is very popular in the Balkan region.
Mina looks and sounds like a young Britney Spears and brings that American style vocal to this mid-tempo pop song. However there is still a sense of the Balkan-style in the feel of the song. Mina has a bit of a pronunciation issue when it comes to the English lines in the song, I do hope that she has been able to work on this by the time we land in Tbilisi.
One of the struggles Macedonia may have with the jury vote is that this is quite grown-up and adult juries tend to favour a younger presentation at JESC, but the unknown quantity of the online vote may counter balance that.

Dancing through life - Mina Blazev.
This is a good song. It is the usual fair that comes out of FYR Macedonia for the junior contest, but the standard of this one is elevated. Where FYROM has falled down in the past is their performance abilities. Hoping this one succeeds where the previous ones faltered.

Mina Blazev - Dancing Through Life My ranking: 5th/16 songs Macedonia has been sending the most contemporary sounding songs but at the wrong places. It’s rather difficult to imagine what kind of staging will fit this song, especially a contest targeted for kids. Look, I love this song, but I can already foresee another year on the right side of the scoreboard for Macedonia. Sorry.
