Today 01/02/25 marks three full months since the tragedy in Novi Sad where 15 people were killed because of the corrupt govrenment in power. This tragedy sparked student protests, and two months ago, student blockades started, and now almost all the universities and faculties in Serbia are blocked. Protests against the corrupt government are happening all the time, but for today, a huge blockade of all three bridges in Novi Sad is just happening. Students from Belgrade walked the 80km from Belgrade to Novi Sad two days ago, coming to Novi Sad last night in time for today's huge protest gathering. People all over Serbia have been coming to Novi Sad today, and the protest starts soon. Here is the link for the live stream organized by students, and here are some pictures from the past three days, when students walked and cycled to Novi Sad, and from the support protests from all around the world, and the video from the highway on the road from Belgrade to Novi Sad. ❤️
I can't explain how huge and how important this is, for all of us from the ex-Yugoslavian republics. The actions of the Serbian students (who have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize btw) sparked a wave of protests and boycotts all across the ex-Yu countries. I can't explain how much hope this gives me. After so many decades, it finally feels like spring.
