Also, we finished watching Cloak and Dagger a few days ago and season 2 was such a satisfying season and it’s finale is fortunately a good ending for the show too. Tandy and Tyrone can go around having adventures (but also clearly set-up for them to do some crossovers first with Runaways and possibly Luke Cage alas, only one of them happened).
Also, Brigid!Mayhem would so fit with the Daughters of the Dragon/Luke Cage show.
I’ve yet to see the Runaways crossover, but I hope things go well there (no spoilers please!).
I have to say that C&D’s tone actually match the Netflix MCU shows more than it does the Runaways tone. C&D handles darker topics than Runaways, which is a good show but in terms of writing? Cloak and Dagger is so, so much better. There’s a deftness and light touch to the writing and a bravery too. Because they do not shy away at how they view law enforcement.
One of the smartest things the show ever did is to move its setting from New York to New Orleans. I feel it made the story richer and deeper, especially towards its lore.
The magic of Cloak and Dagger feels more mystical/spiritual than most of Magical MCU. Because of Chantelle and Evita, C&D really goes deep into mysticism via Voudon and the Loa.
As it stands in season 2, I really liked Team Cloak and Dagger isn’t just Ty and Tandy but Evita, Brigid!Mayhem, and Mina.
Additionally, the show knows how to write Tyrone, something, unfortunately, I don’t think Runaways handles with finesse (especially with the lasted episode I watched, re: Catherine Wilder, Alex’s mom).
Tandy’s character development too, she started off in season 2 with this black and white view where she would get angry at the women who stayed with their abusive partners. She’s so young that she thinks it’s an easy thing to do until Tandy really gets drawn into other women’s experience.
I also love the show’s meditation on hope and despair, and also literally facing your own demons.
This was such a good show and it’s ending was so good but also I want to see more of Team Cloak and Dagger and I’m sad we won’t see more of them.
