Thank you for the detailed analysis of minho, i have always felt that his father was a very traditional asian type who favors the eldest son above all. Remember when he said he found out his grandma was given his brother better food than him? It creates a really pressurising kind of family environment. If anything we should still be thankful he is the sweet dear boy we all know
That’s one of the things I actually admire the most about Minho. Not his “idol life” and “celebrity” much, in my personal opinion, but the fact that despite the hardships of how he was raised; from some neglect, rebellious with parents and a years long competitiveness with a “better older brother” he has grown into an adult that still loves and respects his family so much.
The stories he’s told from his youth, the way his father still talks about him sometimes, are the kinds of things that easily have kids grown into adults that resent their parents or siblings and tear apart family relationships. It’s not uncommon for someone growing up like that to become bitter and hateful.
Remember when he said he found out his grandma was given his brother better food than him?
That’s heart breaking.. truly. Reminds me of a lot of his writing in his “thanks to’s” he would give the impression of working harder *because* he’s not good enough/not worthy.
But possibly, this is the thing I admire most about Choi Minho, because personally, family is a very important thing to me.
