President Donald Trump's administration says it's going to pay immigrants in the United States illegally who’ve returned to their home count

so putting aside whether $1,000 is enough to entice someone to leave the US, how many people are naive enough to trust this? would you tell the government that you entered the US illegally when it is headed by the president who brought the world the (possible) first-ever intraday tariff chart?

I suppose it illustrates the importance of governments being able to make credible commitments, if nothing else

why do people even care about the regulatory standards bill

it doesn't do anything*

if the government of the day like the principles it espouses, they will follow them regardless

and if the government of the day dislike the principles, they can either scrap it or literally just publish a nothing-statement "justifying" their departure from the principles *well there is some wonkish stuff about regulatory stewardship but no one cares about that
