Mindscape Forming Tip
After Azide’s “Recent Sentiments” post, I want to do something a bit more positive. Now, this tip’s gonna sound like a, “No durr,” kind of tip, but I think people kinda overlook it. And honestly, I need to do this more myself. So this tip is super simple:
Visualize your mindscape while you try to go to bed.
Not only is this something you can do every night, but it also helps because you can slip into a hypnagogic state (the transition between wakefulness and sleep) and get even better visualization skills. Even further, you could potentially transition into a dream while doing this and have the dream setting be your mindscape or even slip into a lucid dream if you’re clever enough with it.
Of course, this is limited by how fast you fall asleep, as people who fall asleep quickly won’t have as much time to do this as people like me who can take potentially up to hours to fall asleep. By doing this every night, the time spent developing your mindscape will quickly add up.
I say I should do this more myself because when I’m trying to sleep, I have nothing better to do and because my systemmates and I should probably use our mindscapes more. If you need to, put on some nice atmospheric music to get you into the mindscape building mood.
Now, the only issue with this is that you can get bored or lose focus, and that can make it frustrating to do this consistently. Or if/when you do enter that hypnagogic state, your mind can wander very easily and it can be very challenging to hone your focus back on your mindscape.
This tip can practically apply to everyone, but I think it’s extra helpful to those like me who don’t like to actively spend time visualizing due to thinking we have better things to do because when you’re trying to sleep, you got nothing better to do anyway. Of course, this can apply to visualizing or forcing with your tulpa, so don’t feel like this only applies to mindscapes!
