“I should be auditioning all the time. Why can’t I get myself to show up? Ever had a thought like this? Here are two insights into this kind of thought: 1. The infamous “should” — is a product of the conditioned mind. The conditioned mind isn’t good or bad, it’s just a collection of how we’ve been trained to think — by society or experiences, etc. We need conditioning to function — but sometimes conditioned thinking can lead to unfounded stories in our head that create unnecessary anxiety. 2. Motivation — comes and goes, like our thoughts, like our emotions. Instead of beating yourself up for not feeling something, notice, without judgement, what you ARE feeling. What are you present to? Why don’t you want to audition right now? It’s ok to let yourself off the hook and trust that you will be motivated when the right project comes along. And it’s okay to push yourself to show up even when you don’t want to — but not because you should, because you WANT to challenge yourself. Let me know below if this is something you’ve felt before!
