mindset changes that made me a better student (and a happier person)
not everything you do will be perfect on the first try. in fact, it’s likely that you will get only 5% of what you are reading/practicing
no one cares about your failures, even though it might look like they do
do it to prove them wrong
do it because we live in an incredible world, and learning is one of the ways we can begin to crack the mystery of our existence and the complexities of the world around us
don’t do it for grades, or for making the teachers and parents happy. don’t be afraid to disappoint them
trust me, all my breakdowns resulted from this very fact – I did it for impressing the adults around me, and I not only suffered from higher expectations but also stronger disappointments
a little bit of gratitude a couple of times a week can be a game changer
your mental illness isn’t a burden. it isn’t a liability. it’s a part of you, and you must accept it and work around it (while also working through it).
you don’t have to work towards a conventional definition of success. you don’t have to worry about “lost potential”. just do it because you love to
on that note, you don’t always have to love what you are doing. but you’ll be much happier if you do
you’re never gonna “feel like it”? maybe not now. maybe not tomorrow. but some day, you’re going to get up and think “wow, this is so interesting!” and then it will become a habit, it will become second nature
quality over quantity? why not both? (don’t forget to take rest though!)
you don’t have to study as much as the next person. people learn differently. maybe something that takes days for the girl with coloured pens will take you only hours to understand. maybe something that takes that girl hours to understand will take you days
trust the process. but don’t be afraid to make changes as necessary
time spent planning is not time wasted, unless you’re spending more time planning than actually doing your tasks
but don’t plan every minute of every hour for the next month (you’re not going to stick to it)
you don’t have to always be preparing for the future, but it’s good if you do
you are so much more capable than you realize
another casual post! posts like these have been my major hits, and honestly they are easier to read to with the very short attention span I have nowadays, which I am very sure other people do too
