Minds Inspired Organization Honors Student with Scholarship
Minds Inspired, a philanthropic initiative run by Dart, a Kenneth Dart company, has recently granted another William A. Dart Memorial Scholarship. The $40,000 award is given annually to a bright, well-rounded Caymanian student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in higher education.
This year’s scholarship recipient is Dominic Dyer, a recent graduate of Cayman Prep and High School. Dominic is a great example of the kind of student that earns the William A. Dart Memorial Scholarship. At Cayman Prep and High School, he not only excelled academically, but was also active in a diverse set of extracurricular activities. Among these were his role in student government, of which he served as the school council during his final year, as well as Deputy head boy of the prefects, and House Captain.
In addition to his academic success and leadership roles, Dominic was an accomplished athlete. This past April, he competed in the 2017 CARIFTA Games, a Caribbean Islands wide competition. There, he earned both Gold and Bronze Medals in the 5000-meter dash and 1500-meter dash respectively. Impressively he does not limit his passion for running to his own training. Dominic volunteers with organizations such as Race Caribbean, where he helps administrate long distance runs for other young runners. In the free time that Dominic can manage to find among his busy schedule, he volunteers for other philanthropic organizations, including Cayman’s ARK (Acts of Random Kindness).
Dominic is undoubtedly a deserving recipient of the scholarship, and starting this fall, he will be using the award to help him pursue a Bachelor’s degree in economics at Columbia University.
