Catherine walked down the hall in a hurry, tightly holding her small son’s hand. “You are very much in trouble when we get home, after I speak with your teacher, I assure you,” she told him, not exactly mad but wanting to prove a point. Catherine was a single mother, and that didn’t exactly go over well with some of these newer teachers- they lectured her about the benefits of a two parent household, of doing homework and such with her son at night, but there just wasn’t enough time, and Catherine was not ready for a new relationship.
Catherine let her son sit on the bench in the hall outside his classroom, kissing him on the head for good measure, and because she couldn’t stay mad at him for very long, before straightening her skirt and walking into the room. There she saw a young woman, not anticipating the teacher to have been so young, but there she was.
“Miss Maximoff? Hello, I’m Caleb’s mum, lovely to meet you,” Catherine smiled, reaching out a hand to the teacher. She hoped that the teacher wouldn’t assume this was their first meeting- Catherine hadn’t been able to make parent teacher night that year on account of her job.
