Today is kinda-sorta-technically the 10th anniversary of Minecraft 1.9 (2016 was a leap year but this year isn't so. Yeah), which expanded the End, introduced Beetroots as a new crop, implemented both Lingering Potions and Tipped arrows, and altered the game's combat mechanics...
... But it also removed Super Secret Settings, which invalidates all the other stuff it did and automatically makes it the worst Minecraft update.
#mineblr#minecraft#minecraft 1.9#for the record this post is a joke. but also super secret settings was really cool#(for those who werent there. super secret settings was a silly feature that minecraft had where you could click a button in the settings#menu and it would play a random sound effect and apply a cool screen effect#stuff like dithering. inverted colours. a crt filter. hue-cycle with wavy distortion. chromatic aberration. desaturation. stuff like that#while most of the effects were removed in 1.20 some are still in the game and used while spectating certain mobs in spectator mode#endermen use the inverted filter; spiders and cave spiders use a spider-vision filter; creepers use a low-res green monochrome filter)#also this post has been scheduled since december 2025#(i made it while wandering around the house at like 4:45am on christmas day after not sleeping all night)
