Trilobite Fossil A week ago I had the opportunity to go behind the scenes at the museum and see a wonderful collection of fossils. These guys came from a really diverse group with many others having awesome designs. They occurred around 520 million years ago and were thought to have gone extinct either to changing oceanic conditions, or the presences of predators first started evolving. Including this guy the trilobite. I had no idea at the time but the trilobites actually developed mineralised lens for their optic nerve, essentially providing these guys with glasses (curator shared that with us)
