14 episodes deep into the disguisers. i love a’cheng with literally all my heart. im actually obsessed with the like. little eyebrow raise thing he does, and the way he’s simultaneously playing both director liang and section chief nantian for dage. and also that moment ming lou is sitting with wang manchun during that party and he runs in to get that little kid with the toy gun? wonderful. ive just gotten to the part where he lets gui yi stay with them just as she was leaving and then she starts doing spy stuff the very next episode. so im a little worried but more importantly i want to see if he ever like explains why he changed his mind at the last second.
(on the other hand, i dont care for ming tai’s love triangle as much partly because there are just too many long romantic sequences with the female lead (the multiple angles of that kiss in the square was. too much) but also because he’s taking screen time from a’cheng lol. i like yu manli and the female lead. i just don’t care for the romantic moments at all. also if someone could explain to me why the comments section seems to uniformly hate the female lead that would be great, because so far it just seems like they think she’s a bad actress/not as pretty as yu manli/shes boring?)
anyway. very excited for more of a’cheng. for some reason i thought there would be a spanking scene but it either hasn’t happened yet or i really interpreted the screenshot of dajie and dage’s confrontation over whether he’s a traitor the wrong way.
Imagine your abusive mom works for this rich family, a sister and brother whose parents died when they were young. They've got another adopted brother because the world is unfair and they're kind. When they find out what's happening to you they fire your mom and take you in. Decades pass, and you grow into a man. You take your sister and brothers' name but you're not quite part of the family. You're their brother. You're their butler. You don't know what family means. This is what family means. Then one day, after 20-30 years of not even thinking about her, your mom comes back. And seeing her face brings up so many bad memories. Being dragged out of your bed, being forced to carry buckets of water from the well as a child, being beaten and hungry. You don't know how to speak to her. Your siblings insist you should forgive her. You can't forgive her, but you can't let her go. And you both have secrets and you both use the other but still, it's almost better than it was before. And then she threatens your little brother's life, and you have no time to think, and she runs to you eyes wide calling your name begging you to save her and you point your gun into her thigh and leave her body on the street. Anyway it's thinking about A'Cheng and Gui-yi hours.

Okay, technically the Disguiser isn’t a truly tiny fandom, as it has over 1000 works on AO3 (1377, in fact). However, when you sort by English only, that number drops to 126. So here, let’s make it 127!
Takes place several years before the show starts, so you don’t have to worry about spoilers. In fact, you could probably read this while having no idea who these guys are and still have a pretty good time of it? Whatever makes you happy.
Done watching the disguiser, now i can safely put wang kai on my chinese crush list beside xiao zhan and zhu yilong. 😍
As for disguiser; war, spy and military dramas aren't something i would watch unless i have some ulterior motives which in this case was me missing nirvana in fire casts.
And honestly I'm glad i did. I liked how it was mostly about family.
ming lou and ah cheng's bromance/brotherhood was topnotch. This is probably my favorite relationship here.
No betrayal, not even a second of doubt or hard feelings all you see is mutual love, care and trust.
Actually all the family moments were pleasant to watch. Overall the sentimental part of the story, the characters and their plans was interesting enough for me to watch it until the end.
Special bonus: i loved their sibling fights😂 especially here:
One was busy throwing tantrum, apples and knives,
The other was busy receiving them.
And there stood ah chen eating apples and enjoying the show in cold blood😂
