Habitat and/or preferred growing conditions: Grows in average, medium to wet soils in full sun to part shade. Prefers moist, acidic soils. Tolerates poorly-drained soils and can grow in standing water. Will tolerate some drought.

Leaf/flower color: Leaves are obovate to elliptic, entire to slightly toothed (to 5" long) and are dark green above and paler below. Good fall color. Flowers are not showy and fruits mature to a dark blue.
