I have 5 dogs, ranging from 1.5 to 15 years old, and from 6ish to 37lbs. Two mini schnauzers, two pit mixes, and a mini poodle mix. I alternate what days I walk them, and we generally go for about 1.25 miles, weather providing. Guess which one pulls the most and cuts the most time off my mile.
All these times do include time for them to stop and smell, pee, whatever, so they’re a bit longer than if I were walking alone.
ANNIE- pit mix, last recorded weight around 25 lbs, 8/9 years old. Her mile is about 26 min. She walks at my pace.
GIDEON- pit mix, last recorded weight 37lbs, around a year and a half old. His mile is 25 minutes, he also walks at my pace.
LUKAS- mini schnauzer, last recorded weight around 8lbs, and he’s around 13 years old. His mile is 27 minutes. He walks at my pace, which is extra tired on his days, so more relaxed and slower.
PAUL- mini schnauzer, last recorded weight 22lbs, around 5 years old. His mile is 21 minutes. He walks at HIS pace, he walks ME. Paul is on a mission, and that mission is WALK. His job is WALK. Walking is serious business and I am holding him back.
Honorable mention is EMMA, our poodle mix, we estimate she’s around 14/15, but could be older. She’s around 6 or so pounds, very small. She doesn’t care about walks, but I walk her on good days to keep her joints moving. She just goes up and down the block though, not a mile.
