Thank you Toni Lipsey for making me love mini skeins. My LYS has a big basket full of mini skeins of different colors from Emma’s Yarn and it is always such a delight digging through the basket and making a bouquet of them. I did that the other day for a granny square sweater vest I want to make. I also like the mini skein packs they sell, but this project needed more contrasting colors than the sets available had.
New minis just arrived from the U.K.! This was a custom order from Folkestone Harbour Yarn on Etsy. All of these are dyed from completely natural ingredients. Super exited to work them into my beekeepers quilt!
First two little test skeins. These are made with the shorter bits from the Romeldale fleece + my new spindle. One is a two ply, the other three (chain plied).
The first challenge for me is to spin NOT as-thin-as-possible! And be consistent about it. I like this wool so far, though.
Next I'll do similar tests with the longer bits of the fleece, then maybe try mixing the long & short and see what kind of yarn that turns out. THEN I can decide on which type to spin a lot of.
Look at the mini skein set my Mom got for my birthday! They're all Harry Potter themed. I'm going to use them for a beekeeper's quilt and start making hexiflats. Yup, I'm getting on the train.

Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to."
"I don't much care where –"
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go.”
