How to change debug lights' color/intensity/etc.

When you're in buy mode, hold down ctrl and shift and then click the light you want to change.

You can also turn them on and off, make them into black lights, link them to specific triggers if you have World Adventures installed (it's like how it works in tombs where you stick your hand in a hole and are able to reveal a hidden door...you can stick your hand in a hole and have the lights turn on super bright or something), and a whole bunch of other crap depending on what mods you have installed. But this is how I make invisible lights change colors and brightness. Keep in mind, since these lights are invisible in live mode, you'll have to go into buy mode in order to change them.

Ctrl+shift+click actually does a lot of things to a lot of objects in the game. Try it out and see what shenanigans you can get up to!

I'm really new and I see different coloured text everywhere and it looks so nice... How do I change the colour of text in posts? Can you teach me?

Hi!! You can call me Mystic (or Mistress) and to change your font you'd highlight your text and you'll get little icons for font and size and color! Here's a few screenshots! Hope this helps!

Mini-tutorial - Window Wall Masks Made Easy

I could not send this to someone's DMs, so I thought I would post here!

This is purely to show how easy wall masks can be made! It assumes that you know how to do basic editing in a photo editor, I prefer to use paint.net as its simple!

Can you do a coloring tutorial one day? I really like the fuzzyness and whimsy of your style sm I really want a storybook look but idk how to :((

Hi ! This is a tricky one as I tend not to be super consistent with the way I colour. I like to try things out and see what works best for each one of my illustrations :)

However, here are the basics:

First, I sketch the character. I rely on textured brushes a lot so I pick the ones that can give me that “drawn on paper” effect. Big fan of the “Marmo S(Shale)-brush” or anything similar. Next, I colour-block the character.

Then, I’ll add a simple texture within a brush that has a nice pattern. I really like to use “Bonobo Chalk” or any of the vintage brushes you can find on RetroSupply Co.

The next step is to add simple lighting and shadows and fix some small details. I also like to change the colour of the line art.

You're almost done ! Add and erase some lines, play with the colours a little bit more until you're happy and here we are :)

This is it pretty much ! Just keep it simple, experiment and, most importantly, follow your instincts! Have fun ;)

Connect a ground level fence to a raised foundation

Maybe everyone already knows this (maybe I knew it too and just forgot), but there is a way around the game's "conflicting block clusters" issue that pops up when you try to connect a fence at ground level to a house with a raised foundation.

If you just try to draw the fence normally, you get RED. Big no no. Can't connect conflicting block clusters. Bad simmer.

But never fear. The game is not all knowing. You CAN win this battle!

Draw a single tile of fence not connected to anything, like this

Now click on it and hit the weird-looking cross thingy to pick it up. Put it in the blank spot.

Can't connect conflicting block clusters, huh? Well then, what's this? Take that! I win.

Hi! I saw your posts about switching the hair system, organizing and polycounts statistics and as a nerd myself I loved them :) I would like to do this for my hair folder as well, but I dont know how to find info about polycounts. I am somewhat familiar with simpe, and I suppose there is a way to find that info via opening mesh files in it. Can you tell me how to do this please?

I really enjoy your Strangetown posts as well, they add to my desire to open the game and play my own hood every time I see them. Have a nice day :)

Finding polycount is super easy, and you sent this ask 8 hours ago so you may have figured it out by now but I'll show you in case not. Not sure if there's other methods as well but here's what I do.

Open the mesh file of the hair you want to know in simpe, for this example I'll use Moood N28 from @profesionalpartyguest. Click on the gmdc.

Right here where it says Faces=14470 that is the polycount. The hair itself is 14226 but the scalp adds an extra 244.

If I was making a mental note for this hair I would just call it 14k because it's closer to that than 15k. I personally don't have any problem with the polycount of this hair because it's under 20k, the arbitrary limit I'm trying to for with the hairs I use.

You can do this the same way to find the polycount for anything, here's an example using @deedee-sims Yesterday Gown.
