Artist Spotlight: SugarCharmShop

SugarCharmShop is a miniatures artist from Denmark. She focuses on dollhouse miniatures using primarily polymer clay, though she does utilize wood and ceramics to pull together scenes.

She free-hand sculpts animals, food, and whatever inspires her.  Animal fibers are glued, trimmed, and shaded using pastels and paints to bring her animal’s to life. A keen attention to detail is shown with each piece.

SugarCharmShop runs a youtube channel by the same name and has been making videos since 2011. On her channel includes tutorials for the pictures above.

Daiso Miniature Bakery

My local Daiso had an end-cap shelf of three little store sets with no walls, just equipment. This is Bakery; there was also Flower Shop and Ice Cream Shop. Each is $8. I was interested because the equipment looks Klicky-sized, and this would get me some additional furniture for the Christkindlmarkt diorama or the Great Pumpkin coffeehouse. I bought only the bakery because I was practicing caution and self-restraint.

DO examine the item drawings on the side of the box. This set does not include the floating shelves (which are honestly no big problem to make from scrap).

In the box is a bag of stuff and two small sheets of stickers. One sticker is for the stand-up sign. The other is for the milk containers on the white sprue.

The wheels pop onto the wheelbarrow and shopping cart with a little effort.

The cash register and scale are surprisingly detailed, given how inexpensive this kit is.

Having the bread come in three shades goes a long way toward making up for each piece being a single color. If I'm super-bored someday, I might put a colored wash on some of these.

I thought I took a close-up of the milk containers with their stickers, but apparently not. This will not be the last we see of these items because...

While the scale of the bakery is correct for Klickies, the amount of goodies means I need to rebuild this structure at least three wall sections wide, possibly four. Since I'd already optimistically cut its "foundation" from cardboard and peel-and-stick faux concrete, this means a trip to the dollar store for more faux concrete.

Verdict: The set is a great value, easy to assemble, and fits Klickies well.
