DIY: Minimalist Concrete Stool
Welcome to my adventure of creating this beautiful concrete stool. This is super simple to make, and the final product is definitely a talking piece for your home - maybe you use it for a decoration for an awesome plant or a stand alone piece, the choice is all yours!
What you will need:
1 Bag of Quikrete (you won't use much of this for one stool) But, beware these things are heavy. I may not have all of the muscles in the world but this was an adventure in itself lugging this 80lb bag up to my second story apartment)
1 Pencil
1 Bucket (I used a b bucket from Home Depot. I really like the writing on it 'Lets Do It' It seemed fitting for this project)
1 Rubber Hammer
1 Saw (I used a handsaw for this for ease of use and to not disturb the neighbors above and below me)
2 Dowels (either round or square dowels will work - whatever your preference may be)
1 Tape Measure
Water
And Voila! that's all!
4) Place in the concrete the dowels to be evenly spread in the concrete and lean them agains the top of the bucket.
5) Let dry overnight for about 8 hours.
6) Once the concrete is dried flip over the bucket and lightly tap with the mallet till your stool is free.
7) Enjoy! :)
1) So, first what you will need to do is gather all of your materials. Once you have everything you will want to put into the bucket the concrete to the thickness that you want to stool (I played around with about 4 inches).
2) Cut down the dowels to the size you would like them.
2) Once the concrete is in you will want to mix in the water so that the consistency is moist all around, but not dripping wet. I used one of the dowels to mix the concoction.
