My "Minimalist" Closet
By: Claudia Manganiello
I began my journey for a more “minimalist” closet by looking at other guides online, but I found them all TOO extreme. I didn’t want to get rid of clothes I like and use, and certainly did not want to end up needing to buy more.
So I kept:
-all I need for each season
-my absolute favorite clothes
-enough to rotate for special occasions
-MOST IMPORTANTLY, enough so that I don’t have to do laundry too often.
I got rid of:
-all clothes with holes
-any that I haven’t used in a year
-any I don’t like/don’t fit me or my style anymore
-anything I’m holding onto just because they’re memories.
This was hard. I went through my clothes two or three times, getting rid of more each time. It was hard because some part of me felt like I was throwing away money. But I realized I just had to think of it as I got my money’s worth and someone else would find it much more useful now.
By the end, I got so tired of having so much stuff that I think it’s going to take alot for me to buy something new. I felt a weight lifted when I filled up 6 LARGE trash bags of clothes to donate!! I feel like I got rid of as much as I could but I hope in the future I can slim down even more.
This is everything I own now:
And project 333 has ended 😊 i did not buy any more clothes hooray 👍💥 A few positive learning experiences and the continued growth of sartorial-self: we can in reality wear and pack 10 essential clothing being a simple pair of jeans, a black or navy trousers, a white tee, a button up shirt, a cashmere sweater, a jacket or blazer, an outwear, a pair of flats or heels, a simple bag and a wild card 😜⚡️the secret sauce 😂 then I realized I didn’t need much more clothes to be happier and being able to dress for various occasions. The wild card is the element that allows more freedom in our wardrobe choices let it be this beloved #toteme scarf, my fetish ramen tee or even a dress. Having a duplicate of garment can extend the life of the clothes we enjoy wearing. Boredom doesn’t take place here because accessories exists to compliment our style right 😉 packing lighter gives more freedom and brings more clarity in what I allow myself to wear. Outfit repeating is ok my friends and last note in limitation (33 items) there is inspiration. I found more ways to style my clothes now. Think versatility! I’ll describe more on the blog soon!! #minimalism #minimalistthoughts #minimalistwardrobe #minimalist #project333 #celinewoman #defarjenary #frenchminimalist #frenchieincalifornia #frenchminimalistblogger #style #styleoftheday #styleblogger #sartotial #sartorialself #streamlinedstyle #gerarddarel #sartorialselfproject (at North Park, San Diego)
