My winter decorations are very minimalist, as they usually are. I haven't had a Christmas/Yule tree since I moved out of home as a young adult. Sure, there are now great alternatives to "buying a tree and throwing it away shortly after the holidays", (e.g. renting, borrowing, releasing...), but for me personally, it's too much effort. And as for all the trees that get thrown away every year, that just makes me very, very sad, also from an animistic point of view.😔 My current decorations deal with the most central themes of the winter solstice: The Sun and Fire. That's it. Since I don't have a fireplace, the smallest version, with a tea light.
