one of the irritating things in the veilguard Lore Reveals is the whole "nonstop 5000 years of Violence and Hate between the elves and dwarves, bc the elves just existing triggers a war" thing

like on an in-universe level, it fully doesn't make sense. bc they'd been sprinkling in these level design and architectural elements that showed some level of peaceful cooperation or co-habitation since... dao. lmao. it was clearly not the original intention! bc someone had to be specifically going out of their way to make those assets for a reason.

and then on an out of universe level, it's SO dull. like that completely boring "clash of civilizations" type of thing where it's unavoidable that if two sets of people meet, one of them immediately has to start trying to kill off the other. that's just not how anything works! i don't think there is even a single society on earth that has only had nonstop armed conflict towards another one, with no peaceful exchanges or mixing ever. that's insane. this is the type of very stupid rhetoric that makes people go "uuuh, of COURSE these two groups are at war, it's because they always hated each other 🙄" when the actual problem is both far newer and much more solvable than some Inherent Difference making them fight.

and then of course the Implications. yeah! of course! the elves who were living in segregation and had an outlawed religion that they got killed for practicing, and are either in severe poverty or tiny nomadic communities constantly dodging attacks... they were so evil for existing, and literally tainted the land and released evil plagues. nothing else happened aside from that. they just unilaterally had evil gods and terrorized the dwarves and that was it. they need to apologize and stop having their religion immediately for this. maybe people were right to not trust them :/

and then it flattens the dwarves so much too. surface dwarves? casteless? the orzammar vs kal-sharok beef? the way that kal-sharok attacked another thaig bc it was sheltering elves fleeing tevinter? the lyrium mining? the red lyrium spread since dai? the blights being the main cause of the dwarven cities being lost, which they now know for SURE was bc of tevinter, a major trading partner? the intentional removal of the titans from their records? that one descent titan waking up bc of the veil tear?

no don't worry about that kitten. it was simply just that the elves and dwarves were unable to live on the same continent without trying to kill each other immediately, and the elves evilly took out the titans and that's the Only thing that matters in history. and the titans' time is over anyway, so no one bothers actually doing anything besides using them as a guilt trip talking point. fdshfjdgf.
