In 1978, when she received the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade, Lindgren spoke against corporal punishment of children in a speech entitled Never Violence! After that, she teamed up with scientists, journalists and politicians to promote non-violent upbringing. In 1979, a law was introduced in Sweden prohibiting violence against children in response to her demands. Until then there was no such law anywhere in the world.

What a legacy. We’re so lucky to have had her.

Pastor: I don’t understand you people (europeans). Why cant you just be in peace? Finland used to be part of Soviet Union, right?

Me: umm no, we were briwfly invaded by imperial Russia. Before that we were under Swedish rule. We were never part of Soviets. We got our independence in 1918. Later Soviet Union tried to atrack us.

Pastor: but what about Ukraine? They used to be part of Soviet Union? Can’t they just concentrate on how much in common they have.

Me: Look. Nobody wants to be part of Russia. They will take your culture and throw it away. They will get rid of your language and your heritage. They will send your people away from their own birth place and bring Russians to live there in stead. Your nation will be wiped out.

Saying we should all live in peace simply means we should acsept that our country and culture, our people, should give up and happily sease to exist and trade it with Russian tyranny.

I have Russian friends and they are good people but I pray to God that Putin will die soon. And painfully if possible.

There cannot be piece at the expense of existance.

Russia should get out of Ukraine. And it shall never enter Finland. We won’t let it happen. You can pray for piece all you want but I will pray for Putin’s death.

Maybe I got a bit emotional because this conversation occurred the day after the Independence Day of Finland.

I guess I still have some patriotism left even though I moved out 10 years ago.
