This blog is literally just for me to get out my frustrations from my food service job, hopefully in a funny and relatable way. Like therapy but shittier and free
First time drawing digitally in forever </3
It’s really sad when I’m the most mature and professional person working in a department. Like Jesus christ can you fucking grow up and stop acting like gossipy teenagers you’re grown ass adults with children and grandchildren. I’m not your babysitter. Even if you don’t like eachother at least PRETEND and act like a professional instead of bitching about people constantly. I hate it here.
Arms and Legs
My supervisor said “all you need is arms and legs” to do my job.
Arms and legs.
That’s all I am.
manager: okay sign these forms to say you've had all your training
me: *has had zero training*
me: *signs everything*
I started that time of the month and I have to work tonight. It’s gonna be pure hell because the AC is still broken at work.
I pray to the lord above I do not pass out at work.
Or maybe no.. Maybe I want to pass out....
Today in why the hell do i work a minimum wage job where im severely under-appreciated by my bosses.
So I worked from 2-11 today to cover a shift for another employee because she is super nice and wanted to go to a wedding. I’m not supposed to work 9 hour shifts because my body will literally give out and stop functioning if i stand for too long. but whatever.
at around 6 or 7 pm i start getting a headache. I’m kinda used to it so I stay in the back to do some work with the cake decorator, whatever I can do to help her basically.
around 7:30 my headache dive bombs into the ground into a full fledged migraine with no warning and i want to curl up in a ball and die because of how much pain I am in. Sound hurts, light hurts, my head hurts and i feel like throwing up. But the cake decorator has some Advil and its not like I havent had something like this before. So I grab a protein bar from my bag and eat it with the advil to avoid hurting my stomach more. it doesnt help and my condition gets worse, to the point where im hiding in the walk in freezer to cool down my body and praying to every god I can think of that I dont throw up.
Cake decorator Anne notices and is like “Hey, go talk to the manager and go home. You shouldn’t be working in this condition.” She’s like 50 years old and the sweetest lady ever. I follow her instructions and go talk to the manager and I’m like “hey, I have a migraine and I’m like about to throw up is there anyone I can go home?”
“No. we are understaffed as is I need you here. Just power through it.” We have 13 people working not including me or Anne. Not understaffed but whatever. I return to the back and go back to helping Anne who is now livid.
“That asshole left us short handed on the 5th because he drank too much on the 4th and threw up the next morning. You re actually sick and he wont left you leave?” I just shrug and say its whatever and that I’ll be fine eventually. I decorate some cakes, hide out in the freezer again, and contemplate my existence at this job and wonder why I just couldnt go home.
