I just had the wiki open to explain you don't use granite for much other than recoloring the mining pet and then he shows up.
I bet he appreciates being granite, because its usefull for him :)

So...This just happened about 5 minutes ago!!
Got Rocky the mining pet while afking mining for citadel.
That makes 3 now :D
