Magic the Gathering jumpstart cardboard boxes
Me and my partner recently got into MTG through their jumpstart sets, to keep our cards in order we wanted little deckboxes to store each of the 20 card half decks in. Inspired by u/MidnightLightning's post on reddit, except redesigned to fit sleeveless cards instead. printed on 160gram paper
I've uploaded the pdf and source file to my GitHub page, feel free to download or modify it in any way you want

Gameboy cartridge rescue
This is my first time attempting this, this is not a guide!
I bought this Kirby Nightmare in dreamland cartridge recently. But after playing it for and picking it back up a few days later my save file was replaced with the original save files again.
After a bit of searching on the internet I learnt there were two versions of this cartridge produced, one with a save battery and another with flash ram for saving. Thats fine, I can replace a depleted battery. Although usually all save files are gone on games with a dry battery. Lets pop it open and have a look!
There uhhh... Where is the battery?
Apparently this is a flash ram cartridge, those shouldn't just randomly break right? Lets look a little closer
Hmm one of these pads has been damaged. After following the trace it seems like it connects to one of the top right pins on the flash chip.
The documentation of the flash chip says pin 27 is the write enable pin. Which when pulled down allows the console to write data. If that connection is bad that would explain why the game won't save.
Let's investigate this lead!
Measuring from one of the via's to the pin confirms this connection. However measuring from the pad to the pin and measuring from the pad to the via it appears that the connection from the pad is broken.
So off we go to the soldering station to solder on a little bodge wire.
Admittedly not my cleanest work, and soldering to a via might not be the best connection, but it does appear to be secure. And according to the multimeter it should be connected now.
And after deleting all the saves and playing the first level confirms it, she saves the game properly again!!
The final piece of my cosplay this year, the abyssal whip, build pics under the fold
Part 2 of the runescape cosplay, the fire cape!!
Hopefully my final piece, the abyssal whip will be done tomorrow
Sewn myself on my grandmother's old machine. The inside layer must have been a bit smaller than the printed layer so there is some sagging at the bottom. Something to keep in mind for next time.
My friend Jane made the patern for me using the ground model and sizing it up to me
This is my first time working with bias binding, so it didn't go perfectly everywhere, but I'm really proud of the inside and outside corners. Which i was only able to figure out thanks to youtube videos
I'm heading to dutch Comicon this weekend so I decided to try my hand at a little bit of cosplay again for the first time in years.
I've been working on a party hat, fire cape and abyssal whip this year. I might eventually build these out to a full durial321 cosplay.
I'll post the other pieces when they are finished sometime this week
This is my first time working with eva foam and I'm pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to work with. For this party hat i made a patern using paper and traced that onto the hat. The size is easy to change.
I've made a couple of extras with the foam i had left over to hand out to my friends. But if they decline i might hand them out at the event instead
I made a magic wand for a costume party
It came out great! Especially for the first time using the lathe
Be nice to him, he hasn't beaten Elvarg yet
I treated myself to the runescape boardgame because the guys looked fun to paint.
This guy was fun to paint, nice and simple on the details. Which made for a great color matching exercise.
I think he turned out great
Something fun arrived in the mail today
Can't wait to play it, i mean look at those little guys
I built a cabinet with my dad this week to keep all my painting stuff in.
This year I made a surprise gift for my uncle for the holidays. I stuffed all the gifts into a pringles can and wrote a nice poem about how saint nick would love to have a beer
I just had the wiki open to explain you don't use granite for much other than recoloring the mining pet and then he shows up.
I bet he appreciates being granite, because its usefull for him :)
The fourth party member from the army painter kit a mighty fighter dressed in yellow.
I thought this mini would be the least interesting of the set but painting with yellow tints was a fun challange, i didn't quite get the shadows in a way i liked, but it turned out fine in my opinion.
Paint night 2
To finish up the weekend, i painted one of my another friends lizards.
Highlighting each scale was a bit tedious, but well worth the effort (i hope the camera captures it)
I'm getting better and more comfortable with painting faces, so there's a lot to be excited about
Paint Night
I'm having some friends over for a couple of days to play videogames and paint some minis.
I stole one of my buddies Daemons and gave them a try.
It was a lot of fun to do shading on a guy that's all skin. I think he turned out great
I bougt some cracle medium from the dollar store i really wanted to try, so i attempted a lava floor effect. And I'm happy to see it works great with texture paint. And some dry brushing really tied it all together
Happy pride everyone!
To celebrate this month I painted a stormcast sporting a pan color scheme.
This took me a long time because the metallics I used for this project cover really bad, so i learned the importance of a good undercoat this month :p
This project also has babies first conversion, as i decided to scrape the logo off on one side to give a spot for babies first freehand (who would have thought drawing a couple of straight lines would be difficult with a brush)
