I never answered this bc I legitimately tried to fit mk8 link into my convoluted Zelda Bible/Timeline and thusly lost my mind. Anyway the answer to this is the same answer to why BotW/TotK fits in the timeline: by sheer Goddess bullshittery they exist there somehow. The Golden Goddess are a bunch of kids playing with dolls and Hyrule is their playset
