what does your soul look like? TAGGED (forever ago) BY: @ministerofjujubes
SHIPS SAILING HOME
You are the explorer.
You are the one who is in love with the wonders of the world around you. You see it for what it is, and how it can be better. For all of the wanderlust you carry, you are always drawn to your idea of home, back to comfort and a place you know. But just as you are drawn to it, you are always drawn away again, carried off by your flights of fancy and ambitions that cannot be contained within the comforts of a safe place. You push the boundaries of the map, you discover new places and wonders, but be careful not to forget yourself in the process, or lose sight of your safe haven. Remember to take your sights away from your ambitions from time to time and give attention to what really matters.

"And so, that's why Akimeg is never allowed to cook dinner." Nutmeg finished her story while walking with her older sister. "Didn't mean to talk your ear off though, how've you been?"
'you are rather irresistible.' [This is paraphrased from a flirting meme. Shar is just hyping up her brother/Katakuri.]
*Insert Meme Name Here*
@ministerofjujubes
"I believe that's the problem..." Katakuri said with a tired sigh. "Many find me physically attractive, and aren't afraid to show their affections... It's becoming annoying."
@ministerofjujubes asked: "i have always been rather good at what is called, i believe, creating an atmosphere." [To Candy from her ten foot tall sister, Sherbet/Shar?]
She couldn't help the warm laugh that fell from her lips, the tension at her upcoming performance for her little sister's wedding ebbing slightly. She found that she was often far more anxious dancing for her family and mother lately than she was before a crowd of strangers. A problem she hadn't had when she was younger, but now.....after what she'd realized....shaking such thoughts from her head, she tipped her head back to grin up at Shar. "That you are! Which is saying something since many of our sibling's naturally draw the attention of a crowd to them."
Dipping forward to continue stretching out her legs, she peeked up again. "Does mother have you scheduled for any performances or such in celebration of Pudding's wedding? It seems the entire week leading up to it, she's showing us all off to our newest in-laws."
"She would have quite happily killed all of you." [Shar/Sherbet to Luffy re. Linlin before the Straw Hats leave Whole Cake?]
&& TIME WILL TELL — accepting !
"You think so? Well, that's okay — !"
"We woulda kicked her ass anyways!!!"
drabble + fatherhood (Corvus)

Corvus stood stiffly near the doorway while muffled cries echoed from deeper within the room. His chest tightened immediately at the sound, lungs wheezing faintly beneath the pressure building inside him. Panic crawled coldly beneath his skin while servants rushed back and forth carrying towels, water, blankets, and so much movement. The man wanted to leave, as the instinct came instantly. He wanted to run, drink, and simply disappear until morning. Just pretend none of this existed. That was what his father always did whenever things became difficult. That is what the male learned to hide it beneath indulgence by smothering fear beneath luxury until the rot could no longer be seen from the outside.
He turned halfway toward the door before a sharp cry suddenly pierced through the room. The man froze as something primal tightened painfully beneath his ribs. Corvus slowly looked back over his shoulder just as one of the midwives approached carrying an impossibly tiny bundle wrapped in blankets. “Lord Charlotte….” “Don’t call me that,” he snapped automatically, which startled the midwife. Silence stretched briefly before she carefully corrected herself. “Lord Corvus.” The infant squirmed restlessly in the woman’s arms, little face scrunched red with outrage while tiny fists trembled beside its cheeks. Corvus stared at the child as though looking at something incomprehensible. Fear crashed through him so violently that his fingers twitched toward the flask hidden beneath his coat on pure instinct. His pulse hammered unevenly while thoughts spiraled faster than he could control them. What if the illness was passed down? What if the child inherited weak lungs, too? What if it inherited his temper, his addictions, his ugliness, or his cowardice?
Corvus had spent his entire life convinced the Figarland bloodline itself was cursed. They were truly monsters rotting from the inside out beneath gold and divinity, and now that poison existed here too, wrapped safely in blankets while breathing soft, uneven breaths into the world. The midwife hesitated before carefully holding the child closer toward him. “Would you like to hold your daughter?” The exiled world noble physically stepped back as the refusal came too quickly, “No.” His throat tightened painfully as the baby suddenly wailed harder, and his eyes glanced over at his wife, who must have passed out from exhaustion as the labor had been hours long. “I…” His voice rasped unexpectedly. “I don’t know how.” The midwife’s expression softened almost imperceptibly before she stepped closer anyway. “Then learn.”
Before Corvus could refuse again, the infant was carefully placed into his arms. He nearly dropped the child immediately. Panic shot through him as he stiffened violently, muscles locking while he held the baby with all the confidence of someone handling live explosives. The infant was warm and breathing softly against his chest between weak little cries. He stared downward in horror as his lungs suddenly felt too tight to breathe properly. The baby blinked slowly upward with exhausted watery eyes before tiny fingers instinctively curled around the fabric near Corvus’s chest.
Pink eyes reflected back into his own, as his child inherited his eyes, his eyes, which belonged to his mother, were not a Figarland. Then just like that, something inside him shattered. A trembling breath escaped him as he carefully adjusted the child closer against his body. The baby fussed briefly before slowly calming beneath the warmth of his chest. Corvus bowed his head slightly, red hair falling messily across exhausted eyes burning suspiciously hot. His fingers curled protectively around the blanket without him noticing. “You poor thing, having someone like me for a father…” he whispered hoarsely before he swallowed hard against the painful tightness rising into his throat.
drabble + marrying into the Charlotte family (Corvus!)
Send me a word or theme and " + drabble " and I will write a dabble / one-shot surrounding the given word. // @ministerofjujubes
Music thundered through the banquet hall loud enough to rattle the crystal goblets. Living chandeliers laughed overhead while rivers of melted chocolate flowed through elaborate golden fountains lining the walls. The entire room pulsed with excess, with giant layered cakes by the fistful, Charlotte children shouted over one another across impossibly long tables, and somewhere near the center of the chaos, Linlin roared with delight as servants carried out more wedding croquembouche taller than a man. Corvus sat in the middle of it all like a corpse dressed for celebration. The gold ring around his finger felt heavier than chains ever had. He was now Corvus Charlotte. The name echoed sickeningly in his skull each time someone addressed him with it. He was no longer a Figarland, a Saint, a divine being. Just another piece absorbed into a pirate empire built on political marriages and monstrous power. His wine glass trembled faintly between pale fingers.
A servant approached cautiously to refill his drink, only for the male to snatch the bottle directly from the tray with visible irritation. The poor maid flinched automatically, shoulders tightening as though expecting violence. For one ugly moment, instinct rose immediately within him, cruel words sharpening at the back of his throat the same way they always had, but then he stopped. The exiled World Noble stared at her for another second before waving her away dismissively. “Leave.” The servant hurried off quickly into the crowd. His stomach twisted afterward as a laugh burst somewhere beside him. “Careful,” one of the older Charlotte siblings teased while throwing an arm around a different sibling’s shoulders. “Keep glaring like that and people are gonna think you hate the wedding.”
Corvus slowly dragged his gaze toward them. “I do hate weddings.” That only made the pirates laugh harder with mockery at him. His bride was off somewhere else, far away from him, which might have been for the best. The banquet table shook suddenly as another sibling slammed down an entire barrel of liquor between dishes of cream-covered pastries and roasted sea beasts. Someone immediately climbed onto the table to start singing horribly off-key, while others joined in without shame. Chaos erupted within seconds. The Charlotte Family was monstrous in entirely different ways than the Holy Land. Loud where Mary Geoise was restrained and brutal where nobles were polished. The pirates were honest in their dysfunction.
Corvus hated how much easier it was to breathe here. A violent coughing fit suddenly ripped through his chest. He jerked forward sharply, one hand bracing against the table while the other covered his mouth. Pain burned through his lungs viciously, wet and familiar. Nearby conversations dimmed behind the roaring in his ears as he struggled to pull air back into his body without choking on it. He gritted his teeth hard enough to ache as the coughing worsened. A chair scraped beside him, and before the man could snap defensively, a large hand shoved a drink into his grasp. It was something with a strong, bitter smell. “Drink.”
He looked upward sharply toward his new spouse, Shar, a blonde-haired woman easily four feet taller than him. Suspicion immediately flashed through him as he spoke in between coughs. “What is it?” “Something for your lungs.” Corvus hesitated before finally swallowing a mouthful. The liquid burned viciously, hotter than ordinary alcohol, but almost immediately the tightness clawing through his chest loosened enough for him to breathe properly again. He hated the relief that crossed his face. “Hm.” The woman leaned back lazily in their seat. “So the rumors were true.” Corvus stiffened instantly as his expression darkened, and humiliation surged violently beneath his ribs. “What rumors would those be?” “That the great Figarland family had imperfection after all.” Around them, the banquet continued roaring with life as laughter echoed against towering walls while homies danced and musicians played louder than necessary.
Corvus looked away first, jaw tense as his fingers curled around the cup. “You should feel honored,” he muttered bitterly. “You married a celestial dragon.” The woman snorted as her gaze slid toward him calmly. “No. I married a wreck, but it was my choice.” The words should have insulted him, but instead, something deep inside his chest cracked quietly apart. After a lifetime spent pretending to be divine, Corvus no longer knew what to do with someone who could see every rotten piece of him and stayed seated beside him anyway.
