hi omg thank you!!! the idea of someone listening to my playlist.... 💔💔💔 thank you so much that really is the highest compliment to me
~
mingyu was smart, humble, funny, and incredibly fit. almost perfect, you would say, including the little things like how shy he got when you caught him off guard with a pickup line and how he would get so excited while talking about something that he would fumble over his own words. you just didn't get why he was obsessed with driving a truck.
"think of the possibilities," he had said over dinner the day after he had leased it. "helping friends move. drive in movies. camping road trips."
"okay," you admitted. "the first one, sure. but we're literally never going to do the other two."
so, mingyu proved you wrong. he downloaded movies to his laptop, bought a mini generator for the laptop and some lights, and got to work lining the bed of his newly leased truck with cushions and blankets (after lining it meticulously with a tarp to keep whatever was in the bed out of the bedding). he set out to make the perfect drive in movie, complete with snacks, drinks, and plenty of room to cuddle.
there was a parking structure you liked on the outskirts of the city, standing at five stories while most buildings around it only made it to three. it felt like an island, you told him once. you could see farmland in the distance if you parked on the roof. you immediately caught on when you recognized the area, side eyeing him as he laughed, looking either way to make his turn.
he parked on the roof. it was a thursday, so no one was at the mall the structure was adjacent to, and the roof was completely empty, making you both yell excitedly as you crested the last ramp. he was laughing as you hit his arm, telling him this was the best idea he ever had.
you watched him take the tarp off the back of the truck, folding it over itself and shoving it in the cab before he pushed some of the cushions around, adjusting then after they had shifted in transit. he helped you climb onto the bed of the truck, and you toed off your shoes to leave on the downed tailgate as he climbed up himself. you sat back, staring up at the sky.
"holy fuck."
he followed your gaze upwards. "oh, wow. you can really see the stars out here."
you both kept getting distracted by them as he was setting up his laptop on a bed tray, and while you had both fully intended to watch the nice guys and both had been looking forward to it, it ended up playing in the background as you chatted about anything, eating chips and staring at the sky. your body pressed into the side of his. blankets laid over you both, leaning against pillows on the back wall of the cab.
"where do you even come up with stuff like this," you jokingly asked, swirling your fingers on his chest. "this is some cheesey romcom fodder."
he pouted as he thought. "overactive imagination."
you giggled. "are you saying you daydream about this stuff?"
"i know, it's lame," he said, fingers trailing down your arm, his squeezing over your shoulder. "you make me come up with this stuff."
you groaned, hitting his chest as he laughed, adjusting his grip around you. "stop being so sappy."
"can't help it." you blinked at him, his face suddenly before yours. you watched his lips curl into a grin. "i love you too much."
you giggled against his lips as he kissed you. "i don't know about too much."
