In the commune of Perros-Guirec, a night unlike any other that preceded or that would follow, sat a baby at the steps of the Abbey doors. No one was sure where this baby came from, nor would anyone ever claim him in the years he damned this earth. But from the moment he was hurried in by the sorry clergyman who found him, he remained hidden behind the walls of the monastery and under the watchful eyes of God.

That was many decades ago, and now the Thing called Erik was something of a man. And men are not to be kept to their own genius for so long; at least, not before all Hell turned loose.
