Jungkook looked at her and held her carefully as if she was some scattered petals of a rose—tiny dust of a crushed pearl—
—anything that was broken and precious at the same time.
She was.
And Jungkook was the only one who could see her and her cracks—her dazzling scattered cracks that looked painful and beautiful at the same time.
“I may hurt you in the future,” Jungkook whispered.
“Or you might not,” she replied.
Jungkook stared into her eyes and his chest hurt, it hurt so much he might explode—so he closed his eyes and breathed her scent deeply as he put his forehead on hers.
“You are that fragile,” he whispered again, “I could hurt you.”
“Will you?” she asked.
“I am..” his voice cracked, “..afraid.”
“Because you know you will still hurt me in the end?”
Jungkook wanted to disagree—there was nothing that he wanted more than to promise her that he would never hurt her, ever.
But fate was a horrible, mean thing—therefore other things like promises would be impossible, and Jungkook could never give them to her.
Because he knew his promises were exactly what would break her the most.
She caught the suffocating silence by closing her eyes and moved closer to hold Jungkook tighter than she have ever had..
..and there it went—Jungkook’s last wall that he desperately tried to hold on to—cracked and broke into pieces, as he sobbed as loud as his heart forced him to.
“Then don’t,” she moved and kissed the tears spilled on the corner of Jungkook’s lips, “please don’t hurt me—” another sob and another kiss, “—I will never recover if it’s you.”
