Hello!! I hope you don't mind me sending an ask! I've been loving your httyd Au after finding it while starting to work on my own! I wondered if you'd share some of your headcanons because I'm just so curious!
Here are some of the things I was curious about!
How did dragon Hiccup get his name? Is it still hiccup? If toothless name stays as toothless, why, and how?
How does dragon society and human society differ in this au or does it at all?
Do hiccup and Toothless fight against some big dragon like in the first movie? If so which one?
Any fun facts you'd like to share?

Hiii :3 And of course, I don't mind <3 Here's the answers to your questions to the best of my ability:
Dragon Hiccup gets his name because he makes yipping sounds similar to a hiccup. He is also pretty small for his species! I based the Mountain Devil off of the Night Fury but they're supposed to be bigger in size and length from nose to tail with more dexterity in their forelimbs to aid in climbing steep and unusual surfaces.
Human Toothless's name comes from him having a missing tooth (which I have yet to decide whether he knocked out or it was a case of hypodontia) and it's supposed to be a nickname he got since he was born outside of the main viking territories. He was a little craftsman before the story!
Dragon and human society doesn't differ in this AU all that much. I like to think the dragons and Vikings aren't all that different, so it makes no sense to completely change everything about the dynamic. Around 60% of the characters aren't swapped in this, too. I haven't fully fleshed out this part and don't know if I will, either. Aside from that, Toothless comes to Berk on a ship to sell his crafts along with the others and gets trapped there after it gets attacked by dragons and he gets lost and injured, so the story would take more of an outsider view of the Island, with which he becomes more and more familiar as it progresses.
Of course they fight a big dragon! The same one from each movie, too. But it's hiccup who loses his tail fin when fighting the Red Death.
Some fun facts: Toothless in this AU has tattoos and a metal tooth! His hands are also blackened by a sort of cosmetic powder as a protective measure. Hiccup also likes to rub his long spines on rock surfaces since they're keratinous, kind of like how cats like to rub their nails on a scratch post! It's very destructive, but very cute.
