hello WADTT! I wanted to ask your advice; I have a 4 y/o great dane who recently developed the habit of breaking into the garbage can. we keep a lid on, tuck the bag in, sprayed it with bitter apple, to try and keep her from getting in. (1/2)
i want to stop this habit, but i'm seeing tips from cesar milan type people. i'm frustrated, but not to the point of being cruel. do you have any suggestions?
You’ve done the first really good step of trying to work with the set up you have to keep it from being self reinforced by getting into the garbage... since it’s not working, change the set up. You could keep the trash can under a counter and use a child-lock, or you could get a trash can with a latching lid and weight it down so it can’t be knocked over. Keep trying! You’ll find a solution she can’t break into.
