When the subway train halted to a stop, her eyes widened at the sudden halt. What was going on? As if reading her mind, a sound buzzed through the train and a man began to speak.
”I’m sorry ladies and gentlemen but we are having technical difficulties with the engine, everything should be up in running in a couple of hours."
A couple of hours? She couldn’t wait that long on this train, she had errands to run, a dog to feed a job to attend. “Great..” She muttered. The woman next to her nudged her side. ”Seems like we’re gonna be stuck on this train for an extra three hours." A small frown formed on her face before letting out a sigh. "Yeah.. I think I’m going to go insane." She let out a small chuckle, turning to face the latter.
It wasn't much of a surprise to have herself literally yanked out of her position, as if it wasn't uncomfortable enough already. Soojung stumbled, gripping at anything she could to keep her steady stance beside the stranger that didn't look like she was either 1.) a murderer or 2.) an overly exhausted potential psychopath who hadn't had their daily cup of coffee today. She was probably the only person Soojung would stand by today, and honestly, she didn't want to walk down the aisle and suffocate under judgmental gazes that made her want to hop right off this subway (even though that was impossible).
She finally managed to catch herself, pulling her frail body frame up and stepping back into position, arms closed tight over her chest securely as her tongue flashed over her chapped lips; rubbing her hands over her arms to hopefully warm the skin beneath the sweater that hugged her tighter than anybody she could possibly remember.
She took note of the disappointment on the woman's face, and it seemed to mirror her own, since she was running late on schedules already. It was cold, she was hungry, and late for anything she had to do today--and to top it all off, it was obvious she wasn't going anywhere for a few hours that would surely drive her up the wall.
Shuffles of her boots against the still floor, she finally spoke in a tone that was laced with privacy, hoping that nobody else would hear her, even though it was just a simple start of a harmless conversation. ”Seems like we’re gonna be stuck on this train for an extra three hours." Right around here, ivory fingers wrapped around a pole instinctively, yet being quick to realize what it was that she grabbed onto and jerking her hand away to wipe on the thigh of her pants, since just about everything on a subway was beyond unsanitary.
"I know what you mean. I've got schedules, like, right now. I'm gonna be in so much trouble. Say, where're you headed?"
