“Yes, our modifications to the slith are certainly something to behold.”
Though her outward expression betrayed little, Sheoldred watched eagerly as the Phyrexian slith attacked its incompleat fellows. Most fell victim to the ambush in short order, until only one remained to fight the praetor’s creation, flying gracefully through the air to do so.
“Ah, this one has some potential, at least. Let us see if it proves more worthy than my current project.”
The compleated slith leapt into the sky and sent the airborne incompleat crashing to the ground with a sickening crunch. Though the latter still managed to crawl to its feet following the crash landing, it wobbled unsteadily, clearly damaged and off balance.
“Apparently not. What a…shame?”
Sheoldred watched as the rebuffed slith stomped away, its body language still betraying its frustration despite its wounds. What surprised her, however, was not this, but rather her own minion, who allowed the incompleat to depart in peace. So stunned was she, that the slith marched directly past her unaccosted. This mercy did not extend to the other Phyrexian, however.
“What was that!” Sheoldred growled to her underling. “An enemy, simply allowed to leave! May I ask why?”
The slith answered with a harsh, wordless hiss. Sheoldred seemed to understand it perfectly, even if she disagreed with the message:
“The vermin ‘went home,’ you say? And you let it flee?”
Another hiss, met by another sour expression from Sheoldred.
“If it thought we ‘weren’t playing fair’ now, then I’m afraid it’s not going to get any better for it. For that reason - and several others - it should’ve allowed itself to be destroyed…Or rather, you should have destroyed it.”
To Sheoldred’s surprise, the slith folded its arms in defiance and uttered one final hiss.
“It doesn’t matter if it has a point! The ‘unfairness’ is the point of all this! We are superior to the incompleat in every conceivable way!”
The slith turned up its nonexistent nose at the notion.
[I guess power creep kinda lines up with Phyrexia’s whole thing, huh? But still, the fact that Etched Slith can remove counters from other slith is just insult to injury!]
