Richard Butler, 1984
The Psychedelic Furs 4th studio album was released on 21 August 1984.
Drummer Vince Ely had left the band after Forever Now (released in September 1982) and was replaced by producer Keith Forsey (who had written "Flashdance. . .What a Feeling"), who provided drums on all but 2 tracks on Mirror Moves (Tommy Price played drums on "Here Come Cowboys" and "Heaven"). "Heaven" peaked at #25 on the US Billboard singles chart, and the album peaked at #43 and became the band's 2nd album to sell more than 500,000 copies.
The album cover was designed by Barney Bubbles (who had killed himself in November 1983).

The Psychedelic Furs // Alice's House - Mirror Moves (1984)
“In my highwire days, I can see all the way.” This next week I’m diverting most of my usual sketchbook energy toward a couple bigger long-term projects that need my attention more. In the meantime, here’s my Psychedelic Furs tribute from about this time in 2017. Whenever I start to feel frustrated or uninspired, I look backwards for help. Taking stock of what I’ve done well, how I’ve improved, and how I can still improve always gets things going again. By this point I’d finished up another round of college, and I’d found myself with the freedom to really dive back into drawing and painting again. With this piece I could finally feel a solid, coherent voice emerging. And on top of that, at long last I felt capable. That confidence is a constant balancing act of course, but since then I am totally game for every idea I have– and that is essential.
