Don’t get me started on Severus -- too late

         Severus’s father was some mid-level manager type for the East India Company, sent to oversee trade on the Indian side where he picked up a Native Wife. His fortunes took a dramatic turn for the worst as he found himself out of favour with his superiors and not long after being recalled to England, he was out of a job. His resentment bubbled against his wife and then his son, and he spent most of what money he did make on alcohol. Severus, however, rose well above expectations guided by the image of his father, proving to be a remarkable scholar, to the point where he earned a scholarship first at (Eton or Harrow) and then (Cambridge or Oxford). He also found a lasting friendship in the daughter of the local Squire who faithfully wrote him all his long years away at school. It was at school that he fell in with the burgeoning Knights of Walpurgis, attracted by their elegance, power, wealth, and connections as much as he disdained the booze, drugs, and whores their meetings were often wrapped in.

Free period varied between like and dislike for Lily. She loved having the time away from classes and getting her homework out of the way, but if she did it fast or simply had none that day it bored Lily endlessly. Today, unfortunately, was one of those days, and she found herself wandering the halls of Hogwarts and looking for either Mary or Severus. It wasn’t too long until she found the latter, and she plopped herself beside Severus with a smile. 

“Wanna go outside? it’s gorgeous out, we can’t let the good weather go to waste.”

Can you talk about Harry's feelings about Cho in the short span he was seeing her?

cho was, in every aspect of the term, harry's first crush. it was shallow and superficial and swift in both its coming and going. of course he was impressed by her, more so on the quidditch pitch than anywhere else, and that attributed to his feelings for her, but they only scratched the surface. it was little more than that. if harry had felt much more than that, he would have been far more wary of dating her so soon after cedric's death. yet cho represented a normal teenage experience. he'd seen her with cedric, seen the sort of person cedric was and the kind of life he seemed to live, and he felt that cho continued to reflect that in their fifth year. and in his heart, harry knew that them dating now served purposes beyond simple crushes. he truly believed he was a rebound for cedric, and she was, in many ways, a rebound from the graveyard and all he'd witnessed. he felt that he owed cedric, and subconsciously, that may have played a role as well, but in the end, once they get to know each other, harry comes to terms quite fast that his feelings are shallow and underlined with ulterior motives.

first of all, he realizes that he himself isn't much for relationships, isn't ready for them, doesn't know how to manage them. he takes up a slew of responsibilities beginning in his fifth year, and that becomes priority, which is why distrust comes with such haste and betrayal cuts so clean. second of all, he comes to find that he isn't okay with being runner up to cedric, with feeling as though cho is only with him because he is what's left. then, there's that overwhelming feeling that he simply isn't cut out for normal. he doesn't know how to deal with other peoples' emotions. he's never been good at that. he never had support and thus never learned to be support, and putting up with cho's mood swings and grief was not something he could jump right into, especially with everything else he had to deal with. all in all, his feelings for cho are a mixture of many different feelings, many of which are manifested or fabricated by hypotheticals and misconceptions.
