What happened pls spoil me…
oh boy where to start lmao! keep in mind i was watching a stream where a guy was giving extremely summed up versions of the dialog, so there’s going to be some intense paraphrasing here. also:
!!!SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS!!!
860+ word synopsis coming up! i’m sorry in advance mobile users! just scroll past this post from here on out!
So basically Aqua’s running around the realm of darkness, hallucinating about seeing Terra and Ven. I missed the very important scene of Aqua meeting Terra and Ven, and Terra giving his “Aqua, can you see me?” line, so i’m not sure what was said there, sorry! While Aqua is monologuing, Terra starts twitching and covering his face as Xehanort takes over. He goes to attack Aqua and Ven, but Real Terra(tm) appears behind Terranort, grabs him and tells Aqua to take Ven and run. Before she can, a Darkside appears and grabs her and Ven, and she blacks out.
As she’s falling into darkness(?) her wayfinder falls from her hand, and Mickey appears to lead her away. He explains that the remaining light from her wayfinder caught his attention and he was able to find her through it. Mickey explains that she’s been in the realm of darkness for a long time. (This scene takes place right before the ending of KH1, around the ending boss fights.) Something is mentioned about Kairi and how the little girl that Aqua met back then was a princess of heart now? I’m unclear. They team up to look for a way out of Dark World.
After a while they come across the ruined Destiny Islands, from the Ansem boss fight during KH1. It’s revealed here that Aqua had met Sora and Riku here a long time ago, and I think Mickey explains what’s happened - Sora having a keyblade and fighting the darkness, etc. They hear a boom from the Secret Place, and go to investigate. Once there, Mickey approaches the door and pushes it open -- revealing the Kingdom Key D.
After Mickey takes the keyblade, they see the open Door to Darkness. He says that two keys are needed to close it; the one he has, and the other one - Sora's keyblade. They then see Riku running towards the door, presumably to try and help close it, but a large swarm of heartless pop up and go after him. Aqua attempts to hold them off and Mickey gets thrown to the side (losing his shirt to continuity efforts?). Aqua gets thrown back through the door to Destiny Islands, which shuts and disappeared behind her. Now separated, Mickey hops atop a rock to deliver his lines from KH1.
Back on Destiny Islands, Aqua finishes her fight with the heartless and is lying on the beach, exhausted. The Islands have been restored, and as the world fades from the Realm of Darkness back into the Realm of Light, she sinks back into darkness.
After the credits, the scene opens back up to Yen Sid’s tower, with Mickey finishing the recalling of the story of how he met Aqua in the RoD. Riku says that he remembers Aqua and wants to meet her, and wants to go and search for her. Yen Sid approves, on the condition that Riku take Mickey with him. Kairi pipes up that she wants to go as well, since she now has a keyblade and can help. Yen Sid tells her that she must stay behind and learn how to USE her keyblade before they throw her headlong into battle.
But, with Sora MIA and Riku and Mickey about to leave, there’s only one person to train her -- Lea. (which i find odd since Lea’s not even adept at his keyblade how is he going to train kairi???) Kairi asks who “Lea” is, and Mickey explains that he used to go by “Axel.” Predictably Kairi is Not Okay with this, but after they explain that Lea isn’t a nobody anymore and has been helping them, she relents. Yen Sid magics Riku and Mickey up some suitcases to take with them for their trip, and they along with Kairi leave the study.
Immediately following, Sora returns, running up the tower steps and throwing open the doors with an “I’m back!” ...only to be greeted by an empty room. After expressing confusion and disappointment that no one’s around, Sora tells Yen Sid that he’s ready to try to whole keyblade master thing again. Yen Sid reprimands him for disappearing on them, not very responsible or master-like. Sora’s feeling pretty glum and Donald and Goofy look worried.
But Yen Sid either is going to offer Sora another chance, or send him on another adventure. Either way, he tells Sora that the 7 princesses of heart need to be gathered so they can prepare for what Xehanort has planned. He tells Sora to follow his heart and let his keyblade lead the way. (I’m going to assume that this is where they’re going to use the “Let your heart be your guiding key” line.) So Sora, Donald and Goofy depart once again.
In the gummi ship, Donald tells Sora that they’re following his lead, where to? Sora looks uncertain and admits that he doesn’t know yet. Goofy reminds Sora what Yen Sid said, about letting his heart guide the way. So Sora takes his keyblade and points it forward, opening up a swirling gateway, and they set off.
Meanwhile, Aqua walks silently along a dark beach, where she sees a figure in a black coat sitting alone on a rock...
GOD THAT TOOK SO LONG TO TYPE OUT. and once again, keep in mind that this is some pretty generous paraphrasing! i don’t speak japanese; this is all according to a livestream on twitch, so i could be totally off in some places! hope you enjoy nonetheless!
