Not so blindly [ jiwool & hyeri ]
Why did she wander around these parts? She couldn't remember now, maybe she lost her way. She could have, she always kind of lost her way. It hadn't happened in awhile though, probably because she rarely ever went out unless she had work to do or wanted to see Jungkook, or was called out.
So obviously when she decided to take this night to return to a few habits she had to run down the streets without real purpose, she had to wander here. Not that it bothered her--it did just a little bit because she was known here and she didn't like that, people looked at her and talked and they knew what she did here the last time she came.
It wasn't a place for everyone. Not with the heavy smell of smoke or other substances, drugs at times. Every group that were chatting, most of them with voices so low it could barely be heard just grunting sounds and then laughter--but most of them were dealing ,selling what they had to sell and then got lost.
What she did in these parts of the city? Steal. Not the kind where she'd go to people and steal what they had. But the kind where she was given a job to do online through the hacking community and she had to do it, a sort of dare. Most of the times it was jsut stealing, sometimes it was bringing someone to a place and letting them deal with who wanted them.
What happened to them later on, she never questioned, she did her job and that was it. it was more of a hobby, no profit, just the fun and thrill of knowing she could walk in here and be known as one of the few people who belonged to the community. They were feared here though and that made her feel safe, perhaps it was why she loved being here.
She didn't feel observed as if they weren't sure how to categorize her, no they knew where to put her, they knew the danger and what to do or not and soon as some people recognized her she knew it from the way they recoiled. But she quit that community long ago so she turned to them with a small grin, pushing away the hood of her sweatshirt, there was no need to hide here.
"No worries, I ain't here for anyone tonight." She snickered, seeing who had heard her just look down but his shoulders relaxing. One of the victims, hers. Feeling this rush that she forgot about and suddenly she missed it, she let out a soft sigh.
She turned around and took backwards steps instead, hands in her pockets as she looked up at the sky, the way the building were hiding this small neighbourhood always gave her this feeling that it was shielding them from the rest of the world and not the other way round as the city people would like to believe.
But amongst everything she loved about this part of the city, there was one place she abhorred more than liked and she was getting so close. She always scowled whenever one of their members would try to approach her, of course they would be the only one daring enough. Because what they did, they did it to people her gender, girls, especially in her age range.
Didn't matter that she broke the arm of the first one who ever tried to touch her, they never gave up, they always thought they had a chance. Which might be due to the fact that they did have a lot of luck in getting the girls, some they stole from their families, some they lured in promising all sort of things they would never keep.
Human trafficking.
From the outside their building looked like any other clubs, but she had to step inside once, just once and she never wanted to again. The walls were painted black and there was this endless hall that led to an elevator, it seemed endless until the elevator went down to the basement and there, hiding in the darkness dozens and dozens of rooms all aligned along the walls.
What made her feel uneasy was how quiet it all was, you wouldn't believe a soul lived in there. It was the drugs, they drugged them till they couldn't even step out of their beds and just imagining what those girls must go through she wished she could do something.
Death seemed such a shallow way to end compared to what those girls went through. For Hyeri at least it seemed so.
It ran in her head, she could do something. Maybe she could and maybe that was why she stopped in front of the building when she heard voices and narrowed her eyes at two people standing there. A man's voice, insisting, alluring, charming with a laughter that was probably meant to drag in the other person.
A girl that sounded didn't know that the moment she stepped in she would be lost. She wasn't a hero and she always hated the term and everything associated with it. But she stepped forward without even thinking about it twice.
She found herself standing so close that she could catch his attention first, he watched her walk forward with a frown and he hurriedly tugged on the arm of the girl he'd caught. Hyeri was quick on her feet though, she always was, so quick and bursting.
"Wait, wait, you can't just go like that." She called out, holding an arm out and immediately stepping in between the girl and the man, getting hold of his wrists, fingers digging in spots she knew would make him let go.
Practice, lots of practice and the right person to teach her and here she was, feeling his skin and flesh dig in, her fingers piercing through his nerves as his grip loosened and he was forced to let go, wincing and holding his hand that she dropped soon as he'd let go of the girl.
"Sorry, gonna need her, you don't mind, right?" She didn't even feel like smiling so when she tried it was tight lipped and she turned to the girl in question with a stern gaze. She never understood how they could find themselves being dragged so easily, why was it so easy? She could understand that they couldn't fight or defend themselves, but letting themselves be lured in was what she never understood,
So her tone was biting, dry and scolding but really she couldn't help it. The thoughts that ran in her head kept her from being nice as she stood there eyes on the other, "You should be careful on who you decide to follow."
Whiskey.
Whiskey - My muse wants to get drunk with yours and do stupid things.
Fingers quickly tapping on her iPhone, she dials in Jiwool's number. Holding the phone up to her ears, Jayoung listened to the rings. One ring. Another ring, and another. After a couple of seconds, her friend had finally picked up her call. “Hey,” she greeted. “Let's go for a round of drink, yeah? I'm in need of a good drink and a long talk with a friend. It'll be like a little reunion. Sounds good, right? Just meet me at that club downtown and I'll be in the usual spot.”
After her long dialogue, she didn't wait for the reply since she knew that the girl was going to agree. Jayoung didn't drink a lot, but today, today was just a day where she had to get her mind off things. The girl was just a step away from the entrance. Showing her I.D. to the security guard, they allowed her to walk in. Entering the club, she strolled down the dark, loud club to go to the where the bartender was. Taking a seat, she ordered a glass of cold beer as a starter.

Time seemed to always slip by whenever she was with Jiwool. She remembered meeting her today when the sun was bright, and now the sun was nearly hidden by the horizon. The sky was more dark than it was hues of oranges and pinks. The stars glittered softly against the darkening sky and the buildings were so dark against the backdrop of the sky that she could only outline the edges of the buildings. Minah peered over at her friend who had fallen asleep while reading her novel.
To be honest, she did not remember how they started out as friends. She did not remember how they met nor how things ended up as they were. They hardly knew each other with the exception of their love for reading and their compulsive behavior to daydream whenever possible. To think about it, she didn't even know Jiwool's age.
The thick book rested on top of her stomach, going up and down with Jiwool's breathing before she picked the book up and closed it while bookmarking where her friend had last left off. Days like this always ended with her falling asleep and her wandering around the room reading and daydreaming until the other female woke up. Minah had read the entirety of Les Miserables by Victor Hugo, and now she had nothing else to do but wander into the depths of her thoughts while her friend slept.
She leaned against the wall and closed her eyes, letting the images of whatever she wanted to think about play in her mind. She liked to remember the days of her childhood, playing the episodic memories over and over again in her head until she let out a content sigh. She wished so deeply that her relationship with her mother would be like it was before, but that seemed like a far off cry from reality now. She was sure no matter how much they could try, their broken relationship will always have scars.
She heard bustling from the other side of the room and opened her eyes to see her friend sitting up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. Minah greeted her with a soft laugh before standing up, dusting her pants and walked over to her friend. "You fell asleep again. What did you dream of this time?"
