This morning one of my chickens, Miss Blue, suddenly passed away. She was still alive when my mom fed the chickens this morning, but she appeared to be a little sluggish. Within half an hour after her breakfast she was gone. 

I’m not sure what caused it, she seemed completely fine yesterday. But whatever it was it took her quickly so I think she did not suffer for long at least. She wasn’t that old, around 6 years. But it doesn’t look like it was some contagious disease so I’m not too afraid of Nugget getting sick or something. But I’ll keep an eye on her just in case.

But now Nugget is alone and pretty distraught about it. So I’m going to see if I can find her a new friend or two. Nugget doesn’t do well without some sort of companionship so I hope I’ll be able to find some nice gentle hens soon. For now I’ll give her some extra attention. She is extremely cuddly so I’m sure she’d appreciate it.

My 13 year old chicken Kipje suddenly started laying eggs again. She eats them herself before I can get to them. But I keep finding parts of the shell and some yolk also, so they are probably just regular, fully formed eggs. I think it’s because she enjoys her new coop, the new garden has much more sun than the old one. She certainly looks good. That silly little chicken keeps surprising me. :)
