Salem -> Ozma
Yang <-> Blake
Penny -> Ruby -> Weiss -> Penny
and/or
Jaune -> Ren <-> Nora <- Pyrrha
Feel free to pick and choose (or do them all)
(I'm definitely going to do more of these ideas eventually. In the meantime, enjoy this little drabble)
Blake.
A single word that had haunted Yang since it first appeared on her arm. She traced the word with her finger, absently watching it to see if maybe another word would appear with it. Something to give context to look for. Or to avoid.
“Didnt dad say that if you kept tracing it like that, it’d make the word wear off?” Ruby asked as she sat down next to Yang. “Or is that what you want?”
Yang pulled her finger away from the word on her bicep and pulled her sleeve down. “I’m just… you know… trying to figure out what it means.”
“Its a name, so… maybe its telling you who to look for.”
“You know that’s not how it works.”
“Probably not, but it’d be a good place to start looking.” Ruby pulled her bag to her lap and looked out over the water from her seat on the ferry. “Besides, at least you have a name to look for. Do you know how many times I’ve heard “You have silver eyes” from people?”
“Yeah, but… I… I want to make sure I find the right one,” Yang answered. “Not all of us think of love as gross like you do.”
“I dont find love “gross”,” Ruby retorted, making air quotes. “I dont have an interest in it.”
“Still, some of us actually want to meet our soulmates.”
“And I’m sure you will. There’s plenty of people at Beacon, I’m sure you’ll meet yours there.”
Yang smiled a bit. “I’m not sure it’ll be *that* easy.”
“Probably not, but worth a shot, right?”
Yang nodded and closed her eyes as the ferry made its way to Vale. Once the ferry stopped at the docks, she opened her eyes again and got herself up and out of her seat, taking a quick glance towards Ruby. “Are you sure you’ll be fine on your own?”
“I’m just going to look at books and video games, and then pick up some dust with my allowance. If anything happens, I have your number ready on my scroll.”
“I know, but you’re still young-”
“I’m fifteen, I can handle shopping on my own. You worry too much.”
“Only because I know what dad’ll do if you get hurt.”
“I have Crescent Rose, so I’ll be safe.”
Yang nodded and let Ruby run off. She stretched a bit and started to wander through the city streets herself, no real destination in mind. It was much too early to start checking out the clubs… well, one club in particular, she had everything she needed for Beacon, her bike had already gone through maintenance… nothing more to do besides walking past a few shops and gaze through the windows to see what each shop had on sale.
But as she turned away from one of the stores, a girl wearing a black hooded jacket ran into her and knocked her over. She picked herself up and dusted herself off, offering a hand to the girl. Her words took a moment to leave her lips as she stared at amber eyes, almost entranced by them. “Are you okay?”
The girl gave a quick nod, almost startled at the words, and started to pick up a few books she’d dropped.
Yang sighed and started to help pick up the books. “Here let me help. My name’s Yang, by the way.”
“Blake,” Blake answered quietly as she finished grabbing the last of her books and stood up. “Thanks for the help, but I really should get going.”
“Maybe I could walk with you-”
“I’m fine, really,” Blake interrupted as she used her free hand to check her hood, adjusting it to make sure everything was still laying flat before running off. “S-sorry, but I have to go!”
Yang watched her run off, not quite sure why she’d seemed to be in a hurry until a pair of men ran past. She frowned and started to chase after, ready to help the girl with whatever trouble she’d been in, only to round a corner and find the men standing at a dead end, looking for any sign of where the girl had gone.
She shook her head and turned around to start wandering around the city again, the amber eyes of the girl burned in her memory and unaware of the name she had said.
