This is one of those few tropes where I could even see a modern AU, but mostly I’d want canon era Valjean selling his body to save others (or himself ;_;)
Just imagine Javert’s reaction when he stumbles across Valjean again in Paris, and he’s not spying on him at a well, but instead accidentally watching him pick up a customer in a park. That confused and angry boner would last for hours! He’d come back to spy on him every day for weeks! He tells himself he’s gathering evidence because he wants to arrest Valjean for indecency, but somehow the stash of notes with his observations keeps growing, day after day... Perhaps, for the sake of his investigation, he’ll even have to disguise himself and pose as a customer?
Likewise, it would work just as well for Javert - you could get a super tropey plot out of it if Javert’s superiors were tofire him after he falsely accused Madeleine (and before Valjean can hear of it and reveal himself), so poor Javert has to go off to Paris because surprise, he can’t actually find work living from the land. And then, after Valjean goes to Arras, Toulon and retrieves Cosette, he could run across prostitute!Javert also living in the horrible Gorbeau tenement.
