The Doctor paused from what he was saying when the other spoke. He paused and actually he did take a deep breathe, closing his eyes and letting the cold air tickle his nose, taking in the scents of that around him.
Without even opening his eyes he speaks again.
“The smells of life, they are always around us, if we take the time to stop and smell the roses so to speak.”
