It's good to make friends (or at least allies).
I came to marching band practice after missing the morning half due to ACT.
We had a turn to the backfield in a particular set. While turning backwards, the susaphone guy in front of me whispers "Just follow along."
I had no idea what he meant, until everyone started moving. I've never learned this set! It must have been a change done during the morning half. I followed everyone else just as he told me, and miraculously got to my dot in one piece.
I'm glad I took the time to get to know the people in my low brass section. It saved me from getting mauled over by a baritone.
