children are our future and likely our doom
You’ve co-taught your peers, now it’s time to take it to the next level! A nearby village has had enough of their unruly children behaving like gremlins and have begged the church for aid. Their hope is that a little bit of learning might sate their unrelenting energy for a moment or two - and if not, well, at least they’ll have a day’s respite to gather themselves back up. Grab a partner and a lesson plan and meet your new students, and maybe take care not to lose any of them. [Grants Authority +1]
Looking out at the crowd of children, all restless and full of energy, Sakura wondered again why it was that Professor Kurthnaga asked for her help. She shot him a nervous glance, but she couldn’t even tell whether or not he saw it, with how absorbed he was in his last minute preparations. Maybe it was better if he hadn’t, so she didn’t lose face in front of one of her professors.
It’s not that Sakura was bad with children. She had said as much when the professor asked if she would accompany him into a nearby village to teach its children – a mission from the church, apparently – and she meant it. When she was training as a priestess, in her later years, the younger girls would often come to her for help. But those instances were one-on-one, just her and an eager young priestess-in-training who would ask for her advice on something she had practiced for years of her life.
This was as far from her experiences at the shrine as it could get. This was a mob of children who looked more interested in escaping this lesson than learning it, and a professor that she had a hard time communicating with.
“Are you a-almost ready?” Sakura asked Professor Kurthnaga quietly, her fingers twisting around themselves as she fidgeted nervously.
